After the dinner hall and his quick eatings, he had managed his way to explore. Most people had already grouped up, but he had headed off alone as if to avoid attention. Did he seem a bit shady? Probably. A lone man with a sword in a rather empty feeling manse would take eyes, and he was flabbergasted at a few things. Why were there no other people besides the tan woman and the short man, and Ai? Ai herself was giving him the heebi jeebies in such a manner that even he had to admit that it was near racism. Or would it be speciesism? Whatever it was, he had always felt a tiny bit uncomfortable around technology that could do things like play chess or robots that could walk and move around, so an actual A.I. being at this conference had him at the edge.
Speciesism against robots and A.I's aside, the whole manse was driving him up the wall here. Mayhaps he was missing home... An issue like that could be true, except for the fact that he had been at the other side of Japan for weeks without any family contact and he had been fine without any real troubles. Maybe it was the whole issue with Ai? No, no. If it was only that, he'd just be a bit stressed, maybe confused... This was something else that was driving him so itchy and strange. Did he forget something home and that was causing him so much stress? Nay, nay, he had everything. He checked. Even his sword had been oiled and dried a million times, he had sharpened it himself with his whetstone, and he had made sure to test if it could still cut trough paper. He also brought the necessary rubber that he attached around the edges to make sure that the sword's hits would not be lethal.
By the time he had decided that his paranoia had no clear answer to it, he had gone in circles around the ballroom for five whole cycles. The large hall was illuminating in it's presence, the whole area just emitting a sense of grandeur. Many great men had danced here during their time, he felt. This would also be a good place for an LARP event of his, perhaps more focused on the roleplaying than fighting aspect. He could imagine it already. Him, the duke of the manor, Takemichi... Takemichi could be the duchess, possibly. Or the priestess. She always had liked roles that would allow her to consult others and heal them. Or maybe Horoshi could be the duke's son. The young lad had such promise...
These thoughts made him smile in an absent manner, standing at the middle of the ballroom and staring up to the ceiling in thought.

Footsteps could be heard echoing across the tile floor, giving away the presence of another person. Approaching was the sweater-clad young man from before, his hair just as neat as ever. "... Good evening, sir. You're the man who writes stories with his actions, are you not?" Rin inquired, stepping closer to the room's center. "The architecture is close to that of the Victorian Era... this place is no doubt inspired by the manors that existed in England." he stated. "It's like something out of a storybook, isn't it? I've served at many mansions owned by some of the richest people in the world, and even that isn't quite matching up to the standards placed here. I-I wonder if it's some of the tension from actually being able to go to Hope's Peak that's making me see this place in such a light." He noticed that Ishin was... scowling. He looked around the room warily, as if trying to find something that was amiss. While his mind was primarily focused towards the trip and what programs they would complete while they took their stay, he had also felt something a bit off. "I've seen transcriptions of your work posted to the Internet. It all sounds very exciting! The time of royalty and knights always did enchant me... you play some sort of mercenary or templar character from the looks of it? Oh, and I also wanted to inquire if you were all right- out of everyone, you looked the most tense, so I followed you here to see if I could do anything to help ease your mind." asked Rin, before immediately backpedaling. "O-oh, I mean... um, if you don't want me here, that's fine too! That must sound creepy... my master always asks me to follow him around wherever he goes, so I tend to stick with anyone who I might think could need some assistance. Sorry...!"

His trail of thought (something about Takemichi and Horoshi) was cut off as the man entered the ballroom. He already had an idea on who it was based on his voice... While on a duty such as his own, Shishi had gotten used to remembering people on such bland details as voice or just the way they moved. Heavily armored men usually covered their faces and bodies with a lot of stuff, so basic information like knowing their voice was required. He abandoned his old trail of thought and turned to stare to the Butler.
Hm. Sleek facial features and body, the type to be a bit meek if he gathered correctly. Would make a perfect scout as long as he was out of harms way, and as long as his luck was not bad enough to roll a natural 1. "Verily, although... I do not write the summaries of our merry adventures, sire!" He let out a booming laugh. "'Tis a duty to Takemichi, the priestess of our society. She handles making sure that everything gets written down for people interested in our profession to read."
"Ah, I play many roles! I've been the Last High King, the Radiant Hero, the Blazing Sword... Many roles have graced me, and I have gone trough them all. 'Tis a hard duty, since most of the roles cover so much in what I need to do. Keeping both to in character and to leading the pack can get so stressing sometimes." He stroked his chin and offered the other even a lopsided grin.
"I am afraid my mind cannot be eased, for I have pondered upon a solution for so long... Yet, I thank you for offering to help I in my worries. 'Tis not 'creepy' at all."

"Th-thank goodness. For a second there, I almost thought that you didn't like me!" Rin said, with a sheepish laugh, placing a hand over his chest.
The voice that he could be identified by was a soft one- he spoke quietly and meekly, and while his voice wasn't very deep or manly, it did have something of a paternal feel about it. Ishin's tone and attitude, though... it was as if he always kept in the character he was playing as! Impeccable acting talent, really.
"I admire you, sir- you're a man of many hats." Rin commented. "It must be quite difficult... but being lifted from one life to another at such high speed? It must also be quite nice to be able to switch lives out of the blue!"
He could sympathize with that, he really could. Being plucked out of a life of glitz and relaxation and being placed into the boonies... without a life of caring for others like the one he now enjoyed, his mental state could have gone downhill. But being accepted into Hope's Peak meant that he now had potential. He could attain the life he'd always wanted, and maybe be accepted by society as a whole. Ishin already seemed to be in his happy place, though- if anything, being locked up with a bunch of people he didn't know took away from his LARPing lifestyle. Not that he quite understood the deeper factors of such a bizarre hobby.
"Then... if not... could you at least tell me what's the matter? If something's bothering you, it might be something that should worry all of us." he said, in a more serious tone of voice. The man had the eyes of a carnivorous animal- the kind that could pick out precise details from a long distance.

"Admiration... I thank you for such words, Shirayuki, but I wish to earn it here. Do not consider me a great man by my past deed, but consider me whatever you wish due to my deeds here. We will save this world, you and I and everyone else here." A grin took him over. If something was good about Ishin, it was his smile. It was big and it radiated a sense of confidence not many could feel straight away. "Or... Is that too tragic? There is not actually anything to save, is there? Let me rephrase. Ahem. We will indeed BETTER this world, you and I and everyone else here." He chuckled. Much better.
"What is the matter...?" His grin faded into a more neutral expression, resting his hands on his hips as he paced around in a quick circle, as if trying to reach a certain decision. What should he say. The butler seemed like the type to get overly worried for things like this, yet... He did not want to belittle the man. "The matter is, none of this... Feels right? Feeling right is the right word. I mean wrong word, it does not feel right! I feel like something is horribly wrong, yet I cannot for the life of me tell what that exact thing is, and it is driving me up the wall!" He folded his arms and nodded at that.
"Like... Where are the other people. I believe there would be more than just the two and Ai, yet we have seen no-one, have we?"

"I guess you're correct about that..." replied Rin, talking about the lack of other people. "But... they said that they'd reserved the mansion, right? They probably have staff of their own on hand, I mean- hey, someone had to have made that lovely meal for us!" he joked, trying to lighten the mood just a middle. It seemed to fall flat, though, leaving him to continue speaking. "I mean, they have to have cleaning staff. This room, despite its size and material, is spotless- even being left alone for a week, hardwood and tile like this would be shrouded in dust. This place is populated... but I wonder where they're staying?"
This person has such a genuine smile and show of worry... his emotions can be read clearly.
"B-but I do agree with the things you said before! I'm going to help better this world if I die trying, I'm going to graduate Hope's Peak and find my true calling!" he affirmed, Ishin's contagious confidence getting to him. "A title like 'Butler' is nice, yes... but it lacks respect. I'm trying to get into the medical division of Hope's Peak, since my family isn't very wealthy... I guess we all have dreams of our own, yes?" he asked, now seeming reassured of their fate.
It might be healthy to make smaller small talk.
"The 'Priestess' lady you mentioned earlier... is she close to you? Your liege?"

"They did reserve it, and someone made the food, yet..." He sighed and mumbled to himself before speaking again. " But where IS everybody? I've walked around and I peeked my head into the kitchen, along with some other places, yet I saw no-one. Even Ai was not around, although I do believe I saw some of the projectors she could project herself from." He released a sigh that was near actual frustration at this point. "Ai... Ah, I must say no more against our wonderful hostess." A wry, perhaps even a bit stressed smile took upon his features as he moved on in their discussion.
"I am glad that you have your dreams, although... From the SHSL Butler to someone related to medicine? A strange jump in quality, truly!" He rolled his shoulders, pulling out his sword from it's sheath. "I hope you do not mind if I do a few practice swings as we talk, lad? I'll be a bit farther away from you, but we can still discuss."
He took a few steps to the side, now at the center of the room as he began to swing with his sword. Mainly just light practice swings, but each held such power behind them. It was clear that he knew how to use the weapon. " The priestess? Ah, you mean Takemichi. She is not my liege, as I lead the group we have, so... 'Tis my rule. She is our main healer and spiritual leader. We grew up together and have been keeping contact ever since we played together." A proud smile kept on his face as he cut trough his imaginary opponents.

"Projectors? Is that right?" asked Rin, before his eyes drifted to the side of the room. Indeed, there was a projection device, small and mounted against the lower side of the wall like an outlet or something. "So... that robotic girl can project herself into different rooms? I suppose that's nifty. The technology here is really something, I must say. I could never keep up." he said, a little dejectedly. "Anyway, yes- I really want to be a doctor. I could never afford a university education up in Tokyo, despite medical science being my passion... but it turns out that my skill as a caretaker might surpass any abilities I might have here. I hope I can prove that I might have more to me than just what I am known for.
"Ah, a childhood friend, I see." replied Rin with a nod. "I... I'm not sure if I'd say I have many friends, outside of my family. I have three brothers who I get along with very well, and I'm the youngest out of all of them. In fact... since my mother passed, there's not a single woman in the entire family. I live with my father, and I see my grandfather and uncle very often..." he admitted. It was strange, being in a family with no women. He had grown up attending an all-boys private school, and when he had first encountered a girl his age as a friend, he was nearly somewhat baffled.
"Do you have a cell phone? Why don't we say hello to your friend from here? She'd probably appreciate the thought!"

"Technology has truly marched on. I've never seen anything like this around the world, and I have to keep up with some technology thanks to my path of choice..." He walked over to the projector and very gently knocked on it with his fist. A metallic like 'BONK' echoed from the machine, and he pulled his hand back, rubbing the knuckles a bit. It was tough, and even a light hit had caused a small tinge of pain. Nothing too major, but enough to force him to rub them for a while. "... And the material is tough. Tougher than a lot of what I have seen." He reeled back from the projector. Enough with fooling around other people's property.
"My friend... A piece of advice.
Do not try to be something you are not. I already do so full time every day with lots of things I am not, and it gets stressing... I'm already planning to move more responsibility to the younger members of my group. Ten years and I'll be just a figurehead, five and I'll be out and about looking for a more fitting job." He laughed a bit dryly at his own negativity. "I want to change the world with the skills I have now. It's why I accepted the invitation. If you want to make best of yourself, stay your current course and better yourself at what you do the most. Don't let others belittle you." A proud smile etched onto his face, the negativity and dryness gone for now.
"A phone? I do, yes... I left it charging at my room, the battery ran dry."

... That made Rin smile, just a little. Even with the surrounding negativity in context, his true calling was domestic care. He liked being there for children, for the elderly, and for anyone who just needed somebody to talk to. Master Kikyo... that's the whole reason he hired Rin in the first place. That's why Rin ended up special enough for Hope's Peak. He may have been a wealthy heir, but he was lonesome and grew older without someone to take care of him. He needed someone to teach him the world's ways.
"Thanks for that." he said earnestly, his tightened expression loosening. Perhaps he really had made a friend just now.
"I like being there for people who have nobody else... it's why I work the way I do. I guess that if we all ended up in a place like this, we should all walk the high road in our lives doing what got us into somewhere this special." he concurred. If he became a medic, he'd be... an average medic. He'd be passionate, yes, but he wasn't scientifically brighter than most. Yet, his reflexes and empathy made headlines, and he had been enrolled as a servant for some of the most powerful people in the nation. Perhaps everything would flow all right.
"I'll try and stand up for myself more, you're absolutely right!" he responded, puffing out his chest just a little. It wasn't a 'stupid' talent, just like being a LARPer was something that brought joy to others. He was making someone smile. Even if that someone wasn't always his father.
"If you ever need anything while we're here, just ask! I have my phone right here if you'd like to borrow."

"Putting oneself down will result in nothing more but a bitter defeat!" He took a few more powerful swings from his sword, a little sound coming as the sliced trough the air. "And defeat is not an option in the battlefield that is life, for you WILL rise, and you WILL defeat any opponent! Thus is the way of the warrior, and the way to a successful life! Embrace and master what you already have, and success will come to you in droves!" A few more swings followed in a quick motion, and soon he found himself sheathing his sword once more. It was a quick motion, something that he been seemingly used to for a good while. The blade was still good, he noticed.
"... Mind showing me which one is your room? Or well, if you do not mind. I am just thinking that if we are going to spend some time here under peace conferences and other such hubbub, mayhaps it would be best for us to know which rooms are ours yes?"He tilted his head and smiled at the other. Making friends at places like this was important for social progression, indeed. Mayhaps he could even try and help the other realize his dreams.

Rin was rattled by Ishin's sudden rise in volume, before immediately standing straight at attention.
"I-I won't, sir! I'm defined by the fact that I put my full being into my every action, and I won't lose now!" he replied with a salute, as if giving one to a military officer of higher standing. A bead of sweat rolled down his neck as he realized just how close the tip of Ishin's golden sword was to his chest- and thankfully, he seemed to notice, too, and sheathed it away silently.
That was when Ishin's attitude shifted completely, from deathly serious encouragement to a buddy-buddy offer to hang out with him somewhere more warm and less intensely creepy. The low population of this place was the only thing separating it from paradise, even for an introvert like him. There was something so entirely... off about there being a mansion with so few people. It was like a ghost town, but contained up in a single building.
"My room? I'd... I'd be happy to show you to it so that we can finish our conversation there, sir. It's a very nice place, and I'm thankful that our temporary habitation areas are so clean and comfortable!"
This person is scary.... yet, not necessarily in the negative sense. He's more... authoritative than anything, really. Like a coach for a sports team.
